Though Freemasonry in Bicester dates back to a Lodge of the Ancients No 185, which was warranted on 5th March 1774, few records can be traced of its brief existence.
From 1815 there is no record of any organised Freemasonry in Bicester until the Jersey Lodge No 2334 was warranted in November 1889, and met in St. Edburg’s Hall, where it continued to meet until January 1895 when it acquired its own Temple on the Market Hill.
There it remained until 1925 when the Jersey Lodge purchased the old Wesleyan Chapel in North Street, which become known as the The Weyland Hall.
Today, The Weyland Hall, in addition to being an active Masonic Centre, is a superb traditional venue for private parties, weddings, funerals, corporate functions and club events, complimented by professional catering facilities organised in house by
RD Catering, a comfortable, fully stocked bar and a large, private outdoor entertainment area.
